Leadbelly: It's Tight Like That

[purchase]

Plug this thing in, add some drums, and you've got rock and roll! As the title of the album suggests, this song comes from one of Leadbelly's last sessions, which were recorded in 1948.

Some folks say that a preacher won't steal. I caught two in my corn field. It's tight like that...

More great stuff. Doesn't need drums! I am digging this week's theme.

What happened to the poll? Were you losing?

This one took about a minute for me to get into, but it really is quite good.

The poll was declared over. 2 votes in. Both positive. That's enough to keep soldiering on. Glad you like the theme. It will be back next month, since there are so many other great old songs.

Leadbelly had give a lot to the post 1950 music. Remember Ram Jam's Black Betty ? Creedence's Midnight Special + Cottonfields ?
The Weavers's Goodnight Irene ? Lonnie Donegan's Rock Island Line ? All from Leadbelly !

Hmmm? Maybe there's a good idea for next week's theme....
